USS Animus • Travelling Trekkies

As part of the Travelling Trekkies program, I recently had the opportunity to visit the USS Indiana NCC-79158 and meet members of her crew.

Upon my arrival I was welcomed by Commodore Derek "Firehawk" Sauls and the officers of the vessel. The Commodore informed me that tensions had been running somewhat high within their patrol sector and that recent events had placed additional strain on the crew. For that reason alone, I was pleased to discover that my visit was able to provide at least a small distraction from their concerns.

I was particularly amused to learn that a significant portion of the crew appeared far more interested in my uniform than in my engineering qualifications. The 2373-pattern skant uniform I elected to wear generated considerable discussion amongst the officers of the Indiana. Humans continue to demonstrate an impressive ability to focus on the least important aspect of any situation.

One of the highlights of the visit was meeting Commander Tracy ylH'ana' Canfield, the vessel's First Officer. It is not often that I encounter fellow Andorians during these assignments, and it was a pleasure to exchange news from home and discuss our respective experiences serving aboard predominantly Human crews.

Although the mission was conducted remotely due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the hospitality shown by the officers of the USS Indiana was no less genuine. The experience served as another reminder that the bonds between Starfleet crews extend far beyond the physical boundaries of our vessels.

I would like to thank Commodore Sauls and the crew of the USS Indiana for their warm welcome and generous hospitality. I look forward to the possibility of serving alongside them again in the future.
