The Travelling Trekkies are an ongoing cultural exchange initiative of the USS Animus NCC-74293, a Valiant-class tactical reconnaissance vessel operating under the 11th Fleet of Starfleet International.
The initiative centres on two officers — Lieutenant Commanders AnnaZey thas-Nan and MistHrey ses-Var — Andorian twin sisters whose mission is to observe and document cultural activity across known space. Thanks to experimental dimensional-folding technology developed aboard the Animus, they are able to travel to Starfleet chapters and allied organisations across the globe.
In plain terms: chapters and individual members receive a printed card bearing one of the sisters, take her along to conventions, events, and landmarks, photograph the adventure, and send the report back to the Animus. Every mission is logged here.
It is a small thing, and it is also a way of building a picture of what this fleet actually does and where it goes — told through the eyes of two officers who are very much enjoying their posting.
The elder of the two by eleven minutes. AnnaZey served the Dominion War on a border patrol vessel before transferring to the Animus in 2376. A measured, watchful officer who reads a room before she speaks. Decorated for away team command during multiple frontier operations. She agreed to this mission because someone has to keep an eye on her sister.
Commissioned with the Animus in 2374 and has served aboard longer than anyone except the CO. MistHrey developed the dimensional-folding technology that makes this whole initiative possible, which she considers her finest achievement and AnnaZey considers her most alarming one. Fixes things before she has fully thought through what she is fixing. It usually works out.
Greetings. I am thankful that my officers have made it to you safely. The USS Animus has been experimenting with Dimensional-Folding Technology that has allowed us to send our officers to you via subspace.
Allow me to introduce them to you. You have Lieutenant Commander AnnaZey thas-Nan and Lieutenant Commander MistHrey ses-Var. You can tell these two sisters apart quite easily — AnnaZey has white hair and MistHrey has red.
They have been ordered to observe and report back on cultural activities throughout known space, and have split up to accomplish this. That is where they need your assistance.
Please bring them along with you on missions to either a convention, event or landmark near where you are located, and send us back photos and a brief report to ussanimus@gmail.com — alternatively, if your group is on social media, please tag us @ussanimus or @travellingtrekkie. These reports will be published here so that you can follow their journey through known space.
Once they have completed their mission with you, please record your name, group and location on the back of their card and then please send them on their way to another group, keeping this letter of introduction with them. Once the back of their card is full, please send it back to us.
