USS Animus • Travelling Trekkies

One of the more rewarding assignments I have undertaken aboard the USS Animus has been participating in an inter-fleet cultural exchange program with members of the 7th Fleet.

Following my deployment to the USS Challenger NCC-1676-D, I was welcomed by Admiral Bob Vosseller, Vice Commander of the 7th Fleet and Commanding Officer of the vessel. Despite the ongoing restrictions caused by the Terran Covid-19 pandemic, the officers of the Challenger ensured I was made to feel welcome and included in their activities.

As part of my assignment I attended a fleet-wide Zoom conference involving representatives from several vessels throughout the 7th Fleet. I was introduced to those present and had the opportunity to discuss both Starfleet International operations and aspects of Andorian culture with officers from across the region.

The Admiral has also invited me to participate in several future assignments, including a summit involving local chapters within Western Pennsylvania and the Region 7 Conference scheduled for later in the month. I have additionally been asked to assist with a presentation discussing Andorian culture and customs during the conference aboard Starbase 7.

While many of the activities normally undertaken by Starfleet crews have been impacted by the pandemic, I have found it encouraging to see how Human ingenuity has allowed friendships and cooperation to continue across vast distances through modern communications technology.

Though I would naturally prefer to travel aboard a starship rather than through a computer terminal, I remain grateful for the opportunity to represent the USS Animus and share a small part of Andorian culture with our fellow officers in the 7th Fleet.

I look forward to reporting on future assignments with the Challenger crew.
